Good Morning!

“Hello honey, I’ve had a great sleep and I’m wide awake, and full of cheeriness. . .”

I stare up into his eyes, knowing he means well, but my instinct to maim shows, and he takes an involuntary step back.

“I love you. Good morning!” He says brightly.

“I love you. . . too.” The tone and delivery makes it sound more like something Hannibal Lecter would say to Clarice. The reptile part of my brain is active, but the rest of the systems aren’t online yet. I am not a morning person. Coffee will kick start the less savage part of me, and I shuffle into the kitchen to get a mug, before any harm is done.

This could be any morning in our house.
