NaNoWriMo Challenges

nanowrimo2013 November is National Novel Writing Month

Last November, I entered NaNoWriMo for the first time, and took the 50k word challenge. I wasn’t sure if I’d make it, but was proud of myself when I did.  Those words are now about half of my novel “Into The Seep”.
This last April, I entered Camp NaNoWriMo, and set myself the challenge of 50k words again. It yielded two thirds of the short stories I’ve included in “The Missing Years”.
The next challenge is coming up in July, and I’ll be there as Mythspinner Studios, and another 50k challenge for myself. . .
Anyone can enter, and if you’re daunted by the concept of writing 50,000 words in a month,  try the April and July challenges, you can set your own word count, as well as your genre! If you have a story to tell, I urge you to participate.

History of my writing project:

Series Name: The Chronicles of Tamyrh

Genre: This is a Near Earth, Dystopian, Sci-Fi series of novels, set in an original universe.

Two plus years ago, I was asked to submit concept art to Semaphore Line, in regards to a game they are developing (see their section on this site – Motor Function). I did, and they were kind in their appraisal of its worth to them. As an old gamer (RPG’s mainly – pen and pencil type), I suggested that they develop the world as well, and they asked for a sample.

My books started as a by-product of world building; fleshing out the story behind how the tech had evolved and why things were the way players found them. It went from a few notes, to isolated stories, to over 500k words!

These books have taken over my life in the most magnificent way, the characters chat at me 24 / 7, telling me new things, and encouraging me to write them down. Fortunately I can multitask, and manage to not ignore the important things in life.

The first three in the series are due to be released to my beta-reader group this summer.

Books in The Chronicles of Tamyrh Series:1a

1. The Armatus Files (Beta reading underway)
2. The Interview  (Beta reading scheduled for summer)
3. Into The Seep  (Beta reading scheduled for late summer)
4. Tales From The BBS (Camp NaNoWriMo’s July Entry)
5. The Shard (in development)
